Commercial Production of Wood Alcohol

First and foremost, DO NOT DRINK THE WOOD ALCOHOL. It is not the type of alcohol that gets you drunk.(Ethyl Alcohol) It is a deadly liquid, and can be absorbed through the skin to cause blindness and death. Its many uses includes safe gasoline alternative, Molotov cocktail bombs, gas lamps and poisining people. It is made in a procces called,"destructive distillation." Sounds fun, but really isent very enjoyable.

To set up your distiller, you must start by drilling a hole in the center of both jar lids. The holes must have the same diameter as the pipes. Next you should place all the wood chips in one jar and seel both jars TIGHT with the lids. Any leaks can cause explosions, or death by inhaling the gasses fumes. Then you place one pipe through each lid and seel them up with the putty. Only an inch of pipe should be inside the actual jar. Now you connect these with the elbow. Putty EVERY opening up now. Place the jars so that the one with the wood chips is verticle with the escaping pipe going up and bending at the elbow to the empty horizontal jar placed on something. This is the set up distiller.

To actually make the wood alcohol, you must cook the woodships using a lighter or something on the bottom of the glass. Dont let the flames touch the chips or they will ignite. The actuall chemical procces is basically that the chemicals seperate and a "wood gas" is given off, which due to its heat rises and travels through the pipes to the other jar where it condences into the Methanol.
